PROGRAMS

Our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs intentionally include activities that encourage active engagement, curiosity & problem solving, and understanding.

Small group time will allow your child’s teacher to focus on individual needs. Through Culturally Responsive Teaching, our teachers plan age-appropriate lessons in Math, Science, Language Arts, Art, & STEAM.

Our goal is to make learning enjoyable, relatable, and memorable!

Preschoolers specifically will focus on:

  • Colors and shapes

  • Letter and number recognition

  • Count to 30

  • Gross motor skills

  • Self-regulation

  • Cooperative play

  • Routines

  • Matching rhythm, chants and songs

  • Good habits

  • Listen and respond to stories

Pre-Kindergarten will focus on kindergarten readiness.

They will build on the foundational skills and subjects taught in preschool.

Some of the skills our Pre-K students will focus on are:

  • Colors, shapes and patterns

  • Building attention span

  • Letter and sound recognition

  • Print Awareness and decoding

  • 1:1 correspondence comprehension

  • Gross & fine motor skills

  • Writing & identifying their name

  • Routines & class expectations

Our Pre-K program will use several assessment tools that Prince George County, Petersburg City Public Schools, Chesterfield County Public Schools, Hopewell City, and many other school systems in VA use to gauge school readiness.
